Princess to Villain Contest: Sleeping Beauty

This is my entry for the contest "Princess to Villain" by the group .
The theme here is to transform any Disney woman (or multiple women) into a villain. Despite of the contest's title it doesn't necessarily have to be a princess character.

Here I chose "Sleeping Beauty".
And not only is Aurora herself turned more sinister but even more so her three fairies (Flora, Fauna, Merryweather).
You wanna know more about the potential back story? Take a look at it way down there (in italics).

 

I mainly liked the ideas of
1. Creating fanart about "Sleeping Beauty" (something I have never done)
2. Creating twisted, ugly, creepy versions of the fairies and thus creating a rather evil-ish version of their royal foster child. Just imagine Aurora as a Princess or Queen as cold and stern as, for example, the evil Queen in "Snow White and the Seven Dwarves" or Lady Tremaine in "Cinderella".
An inspiration for the fairies surely were the Fates from Disney's "Hercules" (those three hideous women in the Underworld deciding who should be sent to their deaths).

The rose closeup seen in the background is an older photo of a rose I took years ago in my dad's garden, I just altered the colouring.

In this version the three fairies who are given the task to raise and protect Princess Aurora from infancy on until her 16th birthday are not just purely good fairies.
They have their own idea of protection and care.

Most of the time Aurora is kept in a room in the fairies' forest cabin and is only allowed to leave it on rare occasions.
She is forced to wear metal wrappers for her fingers all the time (to avoid touching any spinning wheel needles per chance) and only may put them off when supervised.

So you can guess what kind of life Aurora lives. And it's also not the life Rapunzel lives in "Tangled" with that beautiful, big room up there in the tower.
Aurora spends most of her time in a chamber, never ever leaves the house, rarely sees the sun and the only animal friends she has are mice, rats, spiders, centipedes and other vermins.

So she grows up to be a fully protected but bitter girl with pale skin and little happiness in her heart. She blames the parents for the life she was given just because they didn't let Maleficent celebrate Aurora's birth with them.

So she may have been kept safe from Maleficent's curse but that doesn't soften her heart as she and especially the fairies, mostly using Aurora, might have their own plans with the royal couple, Maleficent and the kingdom...
