Operation Christmas Child 2014

It's that time of the year again

I think you've already heard of the project "Operation Christmas Child". It is a project that has been going on for many years now and it's about packing shoe boxes full of gifts for poor children in poor countries (like countries in East Europe, Haiti or Kenya) for christmas. Where I live and where I come from the same project is called "Weihnachten im Schuhkarton" (Christmas in a shoe box).

Like last year I packed two shoe boxes. This year they're for a small boy and a teenage girl. I had the feeling that this year I had some more trouble keeping all the gifts in the boxes. But somehow it worked.

This is what I packed this year.

Girl aged 10-14 years (top)

1 pair of gloves, 1 wool cap, 3 knee-lengths socks, 1 stuffed rabbit, 1 Yamaha recorder, 1 skipping rope, 1 Yo-yo, 2 sets of colourful beads, 3 chocolate bars, 1 big lollipop, 3 small lollipops, 1 bag of fruit candies, 1 pack of grape sugar (currant), 1 washcloth, 1 toothbrush, 2 toothpaste tubes, 1 comb, 1 lip balm lipstick, 1 set of hair clips, 3 different notebooks to write/draw in, 1 pocket calculator, 1 ruler, 1 triangle ruler, 2 erasers, 1 sharpener, 1 ballpoint pen, 3 pencils, 1 set of coloured pencils, 1 tin box for a few pens and smaller things, 1 water colour picture (with photo and greetings on the back)

Boy aged 2-4 years (bottom)

1 pair of gloves, 1 fleece cap, 3 knee-lengths socks, 1 teddy bear, 1 toy car, 1 yellow softball, 3 chocolate bars, 1 bag of fruit candies, 1 pack of grape sugar (orange), 7 small lollipops, 1 washcloth, 1 toothbrush, 2 toothpaste tubes, 1 comb, 1 colouring book, 1 set of coloured pencils, 1 eraser, 1 sharpener, 1 water colour picture (with photo and greetings on the back)

Even though I think the mixes are good I feel kinda bad that the girl's box has more stuff in it. But then again the extra gifts are mostly smaller school supplies. And the boy's toys take up good space in his box.

Next year I wanna participate again, of course
